作者:Hector(雅思口语 7.5 分)

“Describe a teacher you like” 是雅思口”Describe a teacher you like” 是雅思口语 Part 2 的经典高频话题,几乎每个考季都会出现。

Describe a teacher you like.

You should say:

  • Who this teacher is
  • How you know this teacher
  • What this teacher taught you
  • And explain why you like this teacher

2. WHERE/WHEN:在哪认识的,什么时候
4. HOW (Teaching style):

I’d like to talk about my high school English teacher, Ms. Zhang. She taught me English literature when I was around 16, and she’s honestly one of the most influential people in my life.

What I remember most about her was the way she taught. Instead of just making us memorise texts, she would always ask us “what do YOU think?” — even if our answers were completely off. That was rare, because most teachers back then were very focused on the “right answer.”

One specific memory I have is when she asked us to rewrite the ending of a classic story. I thought my version was terrible, but she read it out loud to the whole class and said it showed “original thinking.” I was completely surprised — and honestly, a bit embarrassed — but from that moment, I started to actually enjoy writing in English.

Because of her encouragement, I went from being someone who dreaded English class to someone who reads English novels for fun. I even ended up choosing a degree related to English language, which I definitely wouldn’t have done without her influence.

I think what I like most about her is that she saw potential in students before they saw it in themselves. That’s a rare quality in any teacher, and it’s something I genuinely admire.

Part 3

Q1: Do you think teachers have a big influence on students’ lives?

Absolutely. Teachers spend more time with children than almost anyone else outside the family, especially during those formative years when personalities and habits are being shaped. A good teacher can spark a lifelong interest in a subject; a bad one can kill it. So yes, I’d say the influence is enormous — often more than teachers themselves realise.

Q2: What qualities make a good teacher?

I think the most important quality is the ability to adapt — to recognise that different students learn differently and adjust their approach accordingly. Beyond that, patience obviously matters, but I’d also say enthusiasm. When a teacher is genuinely excited about their subject, it’s contagious. Students can always tell the difference between someone who loves what they teach and someone who’s just going through the motions.

Q3: How has teaching changed compared to the past?

The most obvious change is technology. Teachers today have access to interactive tools, online resources, and platforms that make lessons far more engaging than the textbook-and-blackboard approach of previous generations. But I think there’s also a shift in the teacher-student dynamic — there’s more emphasis now on critical thinking and discussion rather than passive listening and memorisation.

A:不是。
